Wheat comment

first_imgUncertainty is likely to remain in the market for the remainder of the old wheat crop marketing campaign, and weather is now critical for the new crop. Analysts are expecting a record wheat crop for 2008/09. In the meantime, the new crop forwards market is broadly tracking old crop movements in the absence of solid market fundamentals of its own.US futures responded sharply to the USDA World Agricultural Supply and Demand report issued last week. The report raised old-crop world wheat production estimates by 1.7 million tonnes (mt) to 606.7mt and ending stocks up by 2mt to 112.5mt. Although the stock level is still the lowest since 1977, the report was seen as generally positive. In the US, Chicago wheat prices fell by $28-29/t during the week to $329.40/t for the current crop and $339.50/t for the growing crop. In Europe French wheat prices fell by E9/t to E235.75/t for May delivery and E208/t for November. However, UK prices did not track this global trend with London wheat prices at £175.50/t for May and £149/t for November.HGCA delivered prices for the UK remained unchanged with bread making wheat for East Anglia and Liverpool at £208/t and £217/t respectively.last_img read more

‘Don’t kill your gran’. Britain sounds COVID alarm

first_img“Don’t kill your gran by catching coronavirus and then passing it on,” he told a BBC radio programme aimed at younger audiences on Monday.Appearing before a parliamentary committee on Tuesday, he was concerned about the rise in cases. “It is so important … people don’t become relaxed about this virus,” he said.Several media reported that the government was planning to cut the maximum number of people allowed to gather in a house in England. As things stand, groups of up to 30 people from two households are allowed to socialize indoors. Some 41,554 people have died within 28 days of testing positive for COVID-19 in Britain, the worst fatalities toll in Europe, though in recent weeks infection numbers had been lower than in several European neighbors.England’s Deputy Chief Medical Officer Jonathan Van-Tam warned of a “creeping geographic trend” as higher infection rates were being seen in many parts. “That is really a signal that we’ve got to change this now, got to start taking it seriously, very seriously again,” he told Channel 4 News. The director of testing at the national test-and-trace scheme, Sarah-Jane Marsh, apologized to anyone who was unable to get a COVID-19 test at present, after reports that people in some areas were unable to access a testing facility.”All of our testing sites have capacity, which is why they don’t look overcrowded, it’s our laboratory processing that is the critical pinch-point. We are doing all we can to expand quickly,” Marsh said in a Tweet.Topics : British ministers and medics are urging the public to get serious again about the coronavirus after fears the outbreak was slipping out of control in some areas.Close to 3,000 new cases were recorded on Sunday and again on Monday – a sudden jump from numbers much closer to 1,000 for most of August, and the highest since May.Health Secretary Matt Hancock said young people who were too complacent about social distancing could endanger older relatives.last_img read more

I’ve exhausted my own money, and you want me to pay, which is a slap in the face for me.” “I said I’m not comfortable doing that. They said I should know the system, and I should act like I’m a Nigerian. I said it’s not about being a Nigerian but doing the right thing.” Ogbuke added that some players had no business going to the World Cup that year, but he refused to talk about it because he did not want to create bad blood. “I’ve kept it close to my chest since 2014 because you’d have unnecessary enemies when you talk. People who played in lower leagues went to that World Cup. I’m not taking a jab at anyone,” he continued. “If you’re good for the World Cup, then you should go, but I feel like if you have to take the best and at the time, I was playing for a top team, Schalke 04 which was among the top team in Europe at the time. read also:Obasi pitches tent with Swedish champions for third time “Funny enough, after the conversation, it got a bit more personal. Powered by Firework The ongoing political unrest in Barcelona has postponed the first Clasico of the season. Barcelona were supposed to host Real Madrid, in the first derby of the 2019-20 La Liga season on October 26, but with the growing tensions in the city, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has confirmed that both Real Madrid and Barcelona have been given until October 21 to rearrange the fixture. If they fail to come up, the RFEF will decide then on a new date.Advertisement Violence spread out in Barcelona after nine Catalan political leaders were handed hefty prison sentences for their roles in the region’s 2017 referendum and their subsequent unilateral declaration of independence. The pro-independence politicians have called a rally in the Catalan city on October 26, the ‘El Clasico’ day.Advertisement The Competition Committee of RFEF assessed the situation through a meeting on Thursday and has already started to resolve the delay. Both the clubs have been given till Monday, October 21 to come to a suitable date for hosting the match. The RFEF will reschedule the fixture if an agreement is not reached.Earlier, La Liga had reportedly proposed the idea of shifting the game to Santiago Bernabeu, but the committee ruled out the proposal as reversal of the fixture order was prohibited by competition regulations.Advertisement RFEF president Luis Rubiales said that the Spanish government had not attempted to intervene in the decision-making process.“Regarding the government, what I can say is that this is a matter of football, and it is the competition committee which has to decide,” Rubiales said.Back in 2017, Barcelona was forced to play their La Liga fixture against Las Palmas behind closed doors at the Camp Nou after Catalonia’s disputed independence referendum descended into violence.
